Important Tips for Signing Up at

The Marketplace portal at has been significantly improved.  Since the beginning of December I have been able to successfully sign people up nearly every time.    The process is still too difficult and confusing; however, it does work.

The deadline to apply for a January 1 effective date has been changed to December 23 to give people a little more time to sign up; however,  I do have a few important tips or comments.

According to CBS news, a significant number of applications have not been correctly forwarded to the insurance carrier.   This means that if you have already successfully signed up, you might not be signed up.

For this reason, it may be worth your while to have an insurance agent to assist you with the processes.  Here are the advantages:

  • The price you pay is the same whether I”m your agent or not.
  • I can help you determine which plan best suits your needs so you know what to choose when you apply.
  • I will be around later to help you with future problems including billing, claims, and renewals.

To have me listed as your agent on the Marketplace, you need 2 pieces of information.  My Marketplace ID and my National Producer Number.

Once you have completed your application, you will need to reach out to me to let  you know that you have done this either by email at or by phone at 901-763-2021.  (The Marketplace will not tell me that you have completed an application).

I’ll then follow up with the insurance carrier to make sure they received your application.

To make sure the coverage begins on time, you will also need to arrange to make a payment before the end of the year.  The Marketplace is supposed to have a system to do this automatically; however, it still does not work  If you do not make a payment, the coverage will not go into effect.
